The 2019 STEPS data revealed that 17.4% of Bahamians are current smokers, with a significant gender disparity (men 32.4% vs. women 3.6%). Alarmingly, exposure to secondhand smoke in homes and workplaces has increased since 2012. These statistics underscore the need for targeted smoking cessation programs, especially among men.
